As we all know, there are three kinds of luggage wheels: directional wheel, universal wheel and detachable wheel

So what’s the difference? Let’s move on

  • Directional wheels, also known as fixed or rigid wheels, move only in one direction and are best for straight-line movements. They do not rotate or swivel, which makes them less maneuverable but more stable and suitable for heavy-duty applications.
  • Universal wheels, also called swivel wheels or caster wheels, rotate 360 degrees around a vertical axis, allowing for easy movement in any direction. They are commonly used in applications where maneuverability is critical, such as furniture, carts, and equipment. Universal wheels can have either a single or double wheel.
  • Detachable wheels are wheels that can be easily removed from a piece of equipment or machinery. They are typically used in applications where the wheels may become damaged, or where the equipment needs to be moved from one location to another without the wheels. Detachable wheels can be either directional or universal, depending on the intended use.
